The Centre for the Study of the Thought of Great Indian Thinkers is based on the UGC initiative and will concentrate on the thought of contemporary thinkers whose ideas have shaped the Indian Nation. Instead of separate Centres for the thought of individual thinkers this centre will attempt to integrate the thought of contemporary Indians by seeing the thinkers in relation to one another.
- Identify the thinkers whose thought must be studied in extenso (initially a beginning will be made with Bankim, Swami Vivekananda, Shri Aurobindo, Mahatma Phule, Pandit Rama Bai, Gandhi, Ambedkar, Rajagopalachari, Periyar, M.N. Roy, Tagore and Radhakrishnan, with the option of increasing this list).
- Initiate Research studies at the M.Phil., and Ph.D., levels on the thought of individual thinkers
- Bring out Readers and an Encyclopaedia of Indian Thought of our times.
- Offer a Distance Education mode of study for a Diploma in Contemporary Indian Thought.
