International Academic Programmes

Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning (CDVL)

The Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning is one of the oldest centres of the University of Hyderabad, officially established in 1994 on the directions of the UGC and MHRD. It started with two diploma programmes and now offers sixteen one-year diploma programmes that are employable, knowledge-oriented and skill-developing, offered in distance/online mode (correspondence-cum-contact programmes). Most of its students are working employees from state and central government offices — among them IAS and IPS officers, lawyers and magistrates — as well as executives from multinational companies, the corporate sector and NGOs, and homemakers. The programmes are approved by the UGC-AICTE-DEC joint committee.

Vision

  • Increase accessibility
  • Reduce infrastructure constraints
  • Act as a catalyst for institutional transformation
  • Help physically challenged learners
  • Equal opportunity in education irrespective of socio-economic status
  • Support adult education
  • Contribute to lifelong learning
  • Increase enrolment in higher education

Mission

The mission of the CDVL is to create a learning environment for outreach students, national and international. The Centre works even on holidays, Saturdays and Sundays to provide training and counselling through contact classes, laboratory training and field work, so that a large number of students can upgrade their skills, knowledge and social commitment.

Programmes, admissions and contacts of the Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning are on its own website.
