University Social Responsibility

UoH takes its commitment to the future very seriously

University of Hyderabad has in the recent past initiated many campus developmental activities that include energy conservation and harnessing of renewable energy, water development and management, desilting of lakes, conservation of green forest and environment, solid waste management etc.

Harvesting solar energy

A recent feather in UoH’s cap is harnessing Solar Power.

This project has been initiated and the first plant has been implemented in a record time of 30 days. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy today inaugurated the 100KW roof-top Solar Power Plant at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Library on Sunday 14th April 2013.

The solar plant will power the entire library operations thus resulting in huge savings for the university.

Expanding green cover

University of Hyderabad (UoH) in association with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), undertook a massive tree plantation under the flagship programme of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana ‘TELANGANA KU HARITHA HARAM’ on 11th July, 2016 in about 250 acres and more than one lakh saplings were planted in half-a-day.

Over 1300 NSS Volunteers from 20 Engineering Colleges affiliated to JNTU-H, about 1000 members of University fraternity and about 1500 workers participated and more than one lakh saplings were planted in half-a-day. This is the only place in the State of Telangana where more than one lakh saplings were planted and is a record of sorts for the State of Telangana and as well as for the Capital City of Hyderabad.

Digital Wellness Campaign

UoH cares for its community.

Knowing how much time its community members spend time on various types of screens and interact online, the university has launched an online Digital Wellness Campaign.

It is keen on promoting a way of life while using technology, that promotes optimal health and well-being in which body, mind, and spirit are integrated by the individual to live more fully within the human, natural, and digital communities.
